Service Agreement

Please read these terms carefully before using our services. By booking with us, you agree to these terms.

1. Service Overview

Local provides private hire taxi services in Blaydon and across Tyne & Wear. All journeys are pre-booked; we are not a hackney carriage (street hail) service. Our vehicles are licensed by the relevant local authority.

2. Booking & Fares

  • All bookings are made via the Local app or through our website.
  • Fares are quoted at the time of booking and are based on distance, time, and vehicle type.
  • Fares are metered. Deviations requested by the passenger may incur additional charges.
  • Prices shown on our website are indicative starting prices and may vary based on time of day, traffic conditions, and specific pickup/drop-off points.

3. Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations are free of charge. No cancellation fees apply.
  • We ask that you give us as much notice as possible so we can reassign the driver.
  • If a driver arrives and the passenger does not appear within 5 minutes of the scheduled pickup time, the booking may be treated as a cancellation.

4. Passenger Responsibilities

  • Passengers must wear seatbelts at all times as required by law.
  • Passengers are responsible for any damage caused to the vehicle during their journey.
  • Smoking (including e-cigarettes) is prohibited in all vehicles.
  • Abusive, threatening, or violent behaviour towards drivers will not be tolerated and may result in termination of the journey and a ban from the service.

5. Pets

Pets are welcome in our designated Pet Friendly vehicles. Please select "Pet Friendly" when booking. Guide dogs and assistance dogs are welcome in all vehicles at no additional charge.

6. Luggage & Belongings

Local accepts no liability for loss or damage to personal belongings left in vehicles. If you believe you have left an item, contact us as soon as possible and we will make reasonable efforts to recover it.

7. Airport Transfers

  • Airport transfer prices are estimated at the time of booking.
  • We monitor flight arrivals and adjust pickup times for delayed flights at no extra cost.
  • Free waiting time of up to 30 minutes after landing is included.
  • Additional waiting beyond 30 minutes may be charged at a standard rate.

8. Payment

Payment can be made via the Local app (card payment), cash, or card in the vehicle. All payments are processed securely. Failure to pay for a completed journey is a criminal offence.

9. Liability

Local carries appropriate public liability and vehicle insurance as required by law. Our liability is limited to the extent permitted by law. We are not liable for delays caused by traffic, weather, road closures, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

10. Complaints

We take all complaints seriously. Please email info@localgrp.uk or call 0191 462 0060. We aim to respond to all complaints within 48 hours.

11. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. The current version will always be available on this page. Last updated: March 2026.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
